When a person has a cough with phlegm, phlegm gets accumulated in the throat and lungs, which causes coughing. And dry cough can sometimes be due to any allergy or infection, but the problem occurs when the patient's cough increases a lot. At such a time, the patient coughs continuously, there is itching and pain in the throat, sleep gets disturbed at night. Other diseases bother one person but one person's cough can bother all the members of the house. Inhaling peppermint steam through a peppermint steam bath can also help relieve cough and cold.



4. Basil leaves


Nature has provided us with many medicinal herbs, one of them is basil. Basil has the highest place in Ayurveda and is also called the queen of medicines. It has the property of increasing immunity. Its regular consumption can protect a person from infection. Drinking decoction of basil leaves is very soothing in cough. Consuming basil for 4 to 5 leaves daily gives relief from cold and other infectious diseases. Wash some basil leaves with clean water and boil 6-7 black peppers and small pieces of ginger in it for 10 minutes, then add lemon juice and black salt to it and drink it, it is very beneficial in cough and cold. Apart from this, boiling some amount of basil in tea and drinking it can also provide relief from cough.


4. Mulethi


In Ayurveda, licorice is considered to be the second most precious after basil. Licorice is especially beneficial in phlegm, cough and sore throat. Licorice has the property of removing phlegm. Grating ginger with a small piece of licorice and boiling it in tea and drinking it twice a day provides relief from cough and cold. Boiling 1/4 licorice powder, a pinch of cinnamon powder, 4-6 black peppers and some basil leaves in a cup of water for five minutes and drinking it also provides relief from cough and cold.


5. Cinnamon 


Cinnamon is a very fragrant spice. It looks like dry wood. It has anti-viral properties. Many of its benefits have been described in Ayurveda. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is especially beneficial in sore throat. Cinnamon also provides relief from cough. By adding a pinch of its powder in tea and drinking it daily, cold virus can be avoided. In case of cough and cold, mixing one teaspoon honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder and consuming it 3 times a day for 3 consecutive days cures cough and cold completely.


6. Pipli 


Pipli can also be a better option to cure cough and cold. Pipli helps the patient to breathe by removing the phlegm. A pinch of Pipli powder should be taken twice a day with a teaspoon of honey and should be taken until the cough and cold are cured.

7. Giloy 


Giloy is also known as Amrita or Guduchi. Its leaves look like betel leaves. Giloy increases the immunity of in human body. It is also effective in dealing with tonsillitis of the throat. Anti-inflammatory elements are found in it. Therefore, it helps in reducing sore throat. Usually when a person becomes a victim of cough and cold due to allergy to smoke and pollution, then its decoction is very beneficial. Boiling a 4-5 inch piece of Giloy wood in water with basil leaves and ginger for 10 minutes and drinking it also provides relief from cough, cold and fever.  Its tablets are also easily available in the market and Giloy juice is also easily available. Drinking one spoon of Giloy juice regularly on an empty stomach increases the body's ability to fight diseases. And the person's chances of getting sick are reduced.

Turmeric is no less than a boon of nature. It has many medicinal properties. It would not be wrong to say that turmeric is a treasure trove of properties. Turmeric is full of antioxidants, antiseptic and pain-relieving properties. If turmeric paste is applied on an injury, the wound heals quickly. Drinking 1/2 teaspoon turmeric in a glass of hot milk before going to bed provides relief from cough and cold. If you drink turmeric milk mixed with a pinch of black pepper powder, it becomes even more effective. And it also clears the phlegm. Mixing equal amounts of turmeric and honey and taking it two or three times a day can also control cough and cold.


9. Carrom seeds 


Rich in anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties, celery soothes acute cough by expelling phlegm. Drinking celery tea also provides great relief from cough.

10. Dates
